WESCO’s Residential Services provide group homes and supported community living in western Iowa, giving adults a real home in the community with caring support close by. Members build everyday skills like cooking, budgeting, and getting around town, and they choose how they spend their days, from Friday lunches with friends to yearly vacations.
Non 24 Hour Supported Community Living
WESCO Industries’ Non 24 Hour Supported Community Living Program is designed to support and encourage individuals to live as independently as possible in their own homes. Staff is available to provide individualized services at times that are convenient to the person served. The goal of the program is to maintain independent living and increase involvement in the community. The program provides training to help people develop or regain skills of daily living. WESCO’s residential services are CARF accredited. CARF accreditation means an independent review found that our services meet national standards for quality and safety.
Our group homes and supported community living homes give members a real home, with support around the clock.
These skills include: money management/budgeting, daily living skills, hygiene and self-care, grocery shopping, exercise, mental health, transportation, scheduling and attending appointments, medication management as well as social integration.
Our members enjoy Friday lunches with their peers, where they get to choose a different restaurant within Denison and the surrounding communities every week. WESCO staff is also available to assist members on yearly vacations of the member’s choosing.
Daily Supported Community Living
This program differs from Non 24 SCL to give individuals a stronger level of independence, even though they may require a higher level of supervision. These individuals will live in a home in the community with 4 to 5 other roommates, which is rented from a landlord in the community. WESCO provides staff support for all aspects of residential life, including banking, cooking, shopping, healthcare, transportation, recreation, and community inclusion.
Next Step Living
Next Step Living is WESCO’s newest, most innovative service, designed for people who want more independence without losing the safety and support they rely on. This modern service model blends smart technology with real-time human support, creating a connected system that boosts confidence, enhances safety, and gives individuals more choice in how they live their daily lives.
Families, caregivers, guardians, caseworkers, and other agencies should contact Katie Schurke at 712-263-6141 or email if they are interested in having WESCO provide services or to request a tour, ask questions about funding, or obtain additional information.
