Tracy Simonsen

Program Coordinator- Residential

I am a Residential Program Coordinator at WESCO Industries and oversee 3 of our waiver homes. I have been with Wesco since January 2015. I was hired part-time in Day Habilitation but also helped in multiple other departments: Adult Day Services, Contracts, Supported Employment, and Reception. March of 2015 I applied for and accepted a full-time position in Supported Community Living. I worked with individuals who live on their own with finances, household duties, and personal care. I also was able to take the individuals on several outings such as concerts, the State Fair, Iowa Hawkeye football games, and many other places! I also assisted with taking individuals on 3 vacations: Kansas City for a NASCAR race, Black Hills, SD, and Branson, MO.

I grew up in Manilla and graduated from IKM. I have lived in Manilla almost my whole life but I will soon be moving to Denison! I have my boyfriend Scott who I have been with for 7 years. Together we have 3 children, my daughter Lizzy who is in high school, Scott’s daughter Ali, and his son Austin who is married and has 2 children, and one on the way!
We have 2 cats, Salem and Sabrina. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy watching movies or playing vintage video games (even though I’m not very good at them!)

Seeing so many individuals succeed in life and being able to transition back into the community is the best part of my job. - WESCO Industries Employee
They can't tell you when you start this job there may come a time where you find you're more comfortable surrounded by people with developmental disabilities than when you are with the general population. But it happens. - WESCO Industries Employee
Until someone has had their own experience with someone with a developmental disability, they just won't understand. - WESCO Industries Employee
I’m so grateful this job became my purpose, my passion & part of my identity. WESCO Industries Employee
