Kara Flurey

Program Coordinator-ADS/Day Habilitation

Hi, my name is Kara Flurey, and I am the Program Coordinator for Adult Day Services and Day Habilitation. I began this career in 2010 as a direct support staff while I was attending Iowa Central Community college for Human services. By 2011 the company  I worked for  at the time, in Humboldt IA, had an open Residential Coordinator position and asked me if I was willing to take the job. I gladly accepted and started working as a Residential Coordinator with WESCO Industries after. Since then, I have accepted the position as the Program Coordinator for our Day Services. I have a true passion for the Human Service industry and can honestly say I absolutely love my job, and WESCO!

I was raised in Lake View, IA. I am married and have 2 dogs (a husky and boxer/German short hair) that I love to spend time with. I am very family oriented so on the weekends in my spare time, I spend each and every moment I can with My family. I have 2 younger brothers who are 12 and 13, and keep me extremely busy with sporting events, they especially love soccer and football. We all love watching NFL as a family every Sunday, Monday, and Thursday. and tossing the old pigskin around. (GO BRONCOS). I also have a younger sister who is 21 and has blessed me with a niece and nephew that I adore. My wonderful brother-in-law and sister-law have also blessed me with a niece and nephew as well who I admire. Aside from family my favorite hobby is woodworking/refurbishing items. I just love bringing the old back to life, it’s like a breath of fresh air.

Seeing so many individuals succeed in life and being able to transition back into the community is the best part of my job. - WESCO Industries Employee
They can't tell you when you start this job there may come a time where you find you're more comfortable surrounded by people with developmental disabilities than when you are with the general population. But it happens. - WESCO Industries Employee
Until someone has had their own experience with someone with a developmental disability, they just won't understand. - WESCO Industries Employee
I’m so grateful this job became my purpose, my passion & part of my identity. WESCO Industries Employee
