Kara Flurey

Program Coordinator-Adult Day Service

Hi, my name is Kara Flurey, I started my career in 2010 working in ICF level care while attending college at Iowa Central Community College. In 2011 I became a Residential Supervisor at my place of employment. I held that position until I chose to move to Wall Lake IA. I began working for WESCO in 2018 originally as a Residential Coordinator and in 2020 began as a Day Program Coordinator. I am currently Day Program Coordinator of the NOVA which is an Adult Day Service program. My favorite thing about working at NOVA is assisting them in accomplishing their goals to gain as much independence as possible.

I was raised in Lake View IA. I am married and have 2 dogs that I love to spend time with. I am very family oriented so on the weekends in my spare time, I spend each and every moment I can with My family. I have 2 younger brothers who are in high school who keep me extremely busy with sporting events, they especially love soccer and football. We all love watching NFL as a family every Sunday, Monday, and Thursday (GO BRONCOS). I also have a younger sister who has blessed me with a niece and nephew that I adore. My wonderful brother-in-law and sister-law have also blessed me with nieces and a nephew as well. Aside from family my favorite hobby is woodworking/refurbishing items. I just love making the old new again.

Seeing so many individuals succeed in life and being able to transition back into the community is the best part of my job. - WESCO Industries Employee
They can't tell you when you start this job there may come a time where you find you're more comfortable surrounded by people with developmental disabilities than when you are with the general population. But it happens. - WESCO Industries Employee
Until someone has had their own experience with someone with a developmental disability, they just won't understand. - WESCO Industries Employee
