WESCO’s ‘Home For The Holidays’ Program: Inviting Public To Bring Holiday Cheer To Individuals In Need

Denison, IA (December 16, 2021) – WESCO Industries’ annual ‘Home For The Holidays’ program is in full swing. Individuals that the organization serves reside in a number of homes operated by WESCO. This initiative encourages people in the local communities of Denison and Vail to adopt a WESCO Industries’ home this Christmas and spread cheer to those individuals in need through item donations. ‘Home For The Holidays’ gift drive ends on December 22nd. Items can be delivered to WESCO’s main offices in Denison.

“This program is a great opportunity to spread holiday cheer for our members,” said Sara Woerdehoff, WESCO Assistant Marketing Director. “With the pandemic, these last two years have been particularly difficult for our individuals.”

WESCO has a number of homes in Denison and Vail, Iowa, where individuals with disabilities or particular needs are cared for. Every Christmas, individuals from each home put together a wish list for this gift drive initiative.

Wish lists that individuals create can range from items to help with everyday living, such as small kitchen appliances, to other things that bring joy and stimulation to their home environment, like stuffed animals or adult coloring books.

These lists are provided to those in the community that adopt a home. If you are interested in adopting a house or participating in the ‘Home For The Holidays’ initiative, contact Sara Woerdehoff by phone at 712.263.6141 or by email at swoerdehoff@wescoind.org.

“You don’t have to go far to begin making a difference in the lives of others in your community. This program has a way of bringing us all closer during the holidays,” said Woerdehoff.

Donated gifts may be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the main WESCO facility at 415 S 11th Street in Denison. Donors can drop off items either wrapped or unwrapped. The last day to drop off items will be Wednesday, December 22, 2021.

Woerdehoff continued, “We do this every year as a way to bring a sense of holiday joy to our individuals. It had such a great, positive impact on our members last year, and the kind gestures of others makes the holidays for our residents something truly special.”
